Introduction to Automotive Practices is a new bespoke course that Lee Street State Special School is offering to certain senior students as part of their Vocational and Transition Activities (VTA) studies. This course will be delivered in partnership with registered training organisation Motor Trades Association Institute (MTAI), the lead industry body for the automotive industry in Queensland.
In consultation with MTAI, the program was developed around the accredited Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation course; however, it will be delivered with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning practical skills without the heavy assessment and study load of the accredited certificate.
The MTAI trainer will deliver the training at the trade training centre at
Caboolture State High School over 10 weekly sessions, with industry visits and possible supported work experience following on from the 10 training sessions.
While this is a bespoke course designed for our students rather than an accredited course through Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), students who complete this course will be provided with a certificate of demonstrated competencies (skills) they have learned, which will be a significant contribution to their CV for potential employers to see their capabilities. Totally Workwear Morayfield has generously donated the workshop attire to our students undertaking the training, so they'll look the part!
