At Moreton Bay North Training Alliance (MBNTA), structured workplace learning (SWL) is where learning meets opportunity. It’s the moment students step out of the classroom and into real industry environments—building confidence, connections and a clear sense of direction for their future.
Every qualification offered through MBNTA includes valuable on-the-job experience, with most programs involving around 80 hours of industry placement. These placements allow students to apply their skills in real workplaces, learn from experienced mentors and showcase their abilities to future employers.
Many of our students are offered school-based apprenticeships, traineeships or employment as a direct result of their placements. Work experience helps students discover what they love, strengthen their skills and take their first real steps toward a rewarding career.
How it works
Step 1: Connect with a host employer
Choose an inspiring workplace in your industry area to gain hands-on experience and insight into your chosen field.
Step 2: Prepare and plan
Complete your work experience agreement form—signed by you, your parent/carer and your host employer—and return it by the due date.
Step 3: Learn on the job
Take part in your placement during the school term or holiday block. Keep your logbook and capture your achievements—every task is a step toward your goals.
Step 4: Reflect and celebrate
Submit your completed logbook in the first 2 weeks of the next term and reflect on your new skills, connections and future possibilities.
